Aeronautical
Information Management
(AIM)
There has been an increasing trend for the traditional Aeronautical Information
Services (AIS) to move towards one in which the information is not only
published, as is the requirement of ICAO, but is managed and promoted in a wider
sense. For example, many States are now preparing and delivering electronic
products which better suit the needs of their customers, whilst helping to
improve the quality of data.
Key Benefits
- Thorough knowledge of the current ICAO requirements:
The primary requirements for AIS are provided by ICAO
Annexes 4 and 15. Mileridge has extensive knowledge and
understanding of these documents as well as their supporting manuals (Docs
8126 and 9674). Furthermore, Mileridge has supported the development of
Amendment 36 to ICAO Annex 15.
- Work extensively with bodies who are developing and
setting the future requirements, standards and specifications for AIM:
Much of the AIM work undertaken by Mileridge supports
major bodies such as EUROCONTROL in the development of new requirements,
standards and specifications for AIM. This provides a level of visibility
which places us in an ideal position to help your organisation.
- Detailed knowledge of developments in AIM:
Mileridge staff spend time keeping abreast of the general
developments in the field of AIM and its surrounding domains and are
therefore often able to offer guidance as to the likely future direction of
regulation, technology, products and operating practices.
Capabilities
The ATM world, as a whole, and AIM within it, depend and
rely upon the availability of robust and unambiguous standards, and
supporting guidance material, for their smooth and efficient operation.
Mileridge has been extensively involved in the review, development and
implementation of standards and guidance material for the AIM domain.
The development and specification of an AIM organisation's
role, future direction and operating procedures are often dependent upon the
results of extensive research. This research may include, for example,
regulations, standards, guidance material, best practice and future
applications. This research is often required in both national and
international domains, and as potentially outside the AIM and ATM
arenas, and other industries.
The Aeronautical Information Conceptual Model (AICM) and
the Aeronautical Information Exchange Model (AIXM) are rapidly becoming the
most widely accepted and used specifications for the digital exchange of
aeronautical information. Mileridge resources have been involved in their
development and support and are able to provide detailed knowledge to
clients.
The European AIS Database provides a central
repository of quality assured information for the European region. Mileridge
resources have been deeply involved in the development and facilitation of
the EAD and may use their expertise to support your migration to become an EAD
user, be it as a Data Provider or a Data User.
The EUROCONTROL eAIP Specification provides a basis for
the future publication of an AIP in an electronic format, making use of the
Extensible Markup Language (XML).
Mileridge has a thorough knowledge of the eAIP Specification and is able to
offer guidance on its implementation and can offer train9ing.
Mileridge can provide AIM training for a wide range of
subjects and topics. See Training
for more details.
