What is the EUROCONTROL Data Quality Tool Set?

DQTS is designed to help achieve the high levels of integrity required by air navigation systems today and in the future. It is a quality check tool, with the objective of assisting those involved with the origination and onward handling of aeronautical data with producing and maintaining highly accurate data.

DQTS was developed as part of the EUROCONTROL WGS-84 Implementation Programme in the 1990’s. It continues to be widely-used in Europe and has license holders world-wide.

DQTS comprises:

• A Cyclic Redundancy Check (CRC) Tool which is designed to detect the corruption of aeronautical data during storage and during its exchange between actors in the aeronautical data chain;
• A suite of geodetic calculation tools, including a Datum Tool designed to perform map projections and datum conversions.

DQTS has the following features:

• It allows the data in some Open DataBase Connectivity (ODBC) data sources, such as Microsoft Access^® and Microsoft Excel^®, to be imported and used directly in DQTS;
• It also contains logging and reporting functions to support the traceability of all calculations made;
• It includes a map display to further verify the calculations made.
